Got this "new" one today.

Didn't even know what I was buying. It was sold as: "Large old strereo-cassette-radio". Didn't cost basically anything. I opened the package it came in today and it was GoldStar TSR-580. It's a little dusty, but seems to be okay. Haven't even opened it yet or cleaned or anything, but the sound is good and everything is working.

Now, I don't know anything about GoldStar boxes. I only know that LG used to be GoldStar (the company, I mean) and their stuff isn't totally the worst you can find. Am I right? You all who know these boxes better: what do you think about TSR-580? Any proud and satisfied owners out there? Anything I should know about this before opening and restoring it?

Hello
I think it's the 581 model, with the digital clock (580 doesn't have it)
I am a proud owner of a mint Goldstar TSR 580 : very satisfied!! sound is really good, a lot of bass with loudness on and bass up to 7 / 8, highs are a bit too present but put it to -2 and it's ok
Overall a very solid unit, and nice looking too Here's mine :

This one also has silver knobs instead of black ;-)

The knobs are actually brownish, greenish, yellowish. The original color being... beige... ??? Could that be?
I'll post some pics when I get it cleaned up for you to marvel at. I opened it and it's in good shape, not too dirty or too dusty or anything. Just gently vacuumed it and I'm about to start cleaning the switches.

Despite my earlier testimony, the one thing that is NOT working is indeed the digital clock. It's all dead. Something fishy going on with the left aerial too. When you touch it to move it the FM reception gets much clearer. Contact issue I'm certain.

Got it all cleaned up and everything working. One loose wire on the aerial set up and bad connection from the digital clock battery holder.

This little box is really starting to grow on me...
