Well....I have been patiently waiting since 1986 for this show....and tomorrow night, what I thought would NEVER happen, I will get to witness.

Keep in mind, that back in the day I was a HUGE VH fan...lived it, breathed it, BLASTED IT with my Lasonic. My second ever cassette was VH "Women and Children First" in 1980. Saw every tour, bought every album, cassette and eventually CD.

I still remember, it was January and Los Angeles radio station 95.5 KLOS spend a whole week promoting the debut of the new song and album from Van Halen. The album....1984. The song, JUMP.

I was at my buddy Rob's house and we were playing a board game, my buddy Eric was there and so was my original TRC-920.

Moments before they were about to play "Jump" my buddy Eric got up and by accident kicked my radio breaking off one of the switches on the face :annoyed: :annoyed: :annoyed:

I was so FRIGGEN' pissed off. I had been waiting all day to hear the new VH and now this....I was also pissed because he didn't seem to care very much and he knew how much I loved that radio!

.....So....I tried hard to get over it....I tried to get pumped up, that things will be better when this new Van Halen song comes on the radio...In my mind I just kept thinking..."This is gonna ROCK". I had a cassette in the deck....I had the Pause, Record and Play buttons pressed, locked and loaded. The radio station announced this was it....I pressed down on the Pause button....let the tape roll...

AND Then...they played JUMP! The first thing that came to mind was "FRIGGEN KEYBOARDS!"

I almost puked....I was such a HUGE Van Halen fan BECAUSE of their Hard Rock style. "And the Cradle Will Rock", "Unchained", "Runnin With The Devil".

My disappointment with life in general all started with the switch being broken on my radio and it all went down the Shiatter from there....

Broken switch leads to keyboards on a Van Halen record.
Key Boards on a VH record leads to fruit cake, pop rock bands like Europe, Brittney Fox, Poison and all the other putrid, flaccid, hair spray, chick metal.
Dave Lee Roth quits Van Halen and releases some of the worst music ever made.
Eddie Van Halen becomes a drug addicted alcoholic bum.
VH doesn't put out "Classic Hard Rock Record" for 28 years

WHY YOU ASK.....
Because some JERK kicked over my radio and broke off a switch....THAT'S WHY!

But now....things have changed..... :w00t:

the planets have aligned....

I now have a fully functioning Lasonic TRC-920 WITH NO BROKEN SWITCHES!
Van Halen Reunites with David Lee Roth
Eddie Van Helan sobers up
VH releases their Hardest Rocking record in 20 years (pick it up "A Different Kind Of Truth" it's killer!)
VH on tour right now and I am going to the Staple Center in Los Angeles to see them with my wife!

COINCIDENCE? I THINK NOT!

Chris, take it and see if EVH can Autogragh it for You. I've been a Van Halen (Not Van Hagar :-D ) for the past 33 years. I want to see them so badly. My sister just GAVE me two tickets to see Nickleback (w/ Seether, Bush & My Darkest Days) for June 21st. She couldn't make it.

I thought Sammy was an awesome lead singer :-) Hell he lasted almost 13 years total with band and put out more albums then Roth....

Hey Guys,

Sorry the EVH M70's won't be going....I originally wanted too, but the volume slider pc board is out of it and Norm is rebuilding it.

I also wasn't sure strutting it around in the parking lot around a bunch of drunks and then going to the show wouldn't guarantee me returning to a broken car window and a missing M70 :-/

It's OK...Once the slider board is back, this bad boy is going into full service, so it's worth the wait.

Way back in the day when DLR left VH and Sammy stepped in, some serious battle lines between the fans were drawn.

:catfight:

Either you were a true VH fan and you were going to follow VH and you were a DLR fan and you were going to follow him with his "Eddie Van Halen replacement" Steve Vai.

I have all of DLR's solo records except "Sky Scraper". There is some good blues stuff on those records....but for the most part it was all hollow sugar pop rock with little or no subject content and usually totally over produced.

The "Van Hagar" stuff in contrast was all solid Rockin' stuff. Eddie working hard to stay on top, Sammy doing what he does...BEING GREAT....I saw every tour with them with the exception of the Sammy reunion tour in the mid 2000's. I also did not see the Sammy and Dave tour.

But to me....that was NEVER Van Halen. I thought it was a GREAT band and the did some good stuff, but it fell far short of "Fair Warning" & "Women and Children First"

This new album is better than I would have expected. It's WAY Heavier then I would have expected, putting it squarely in the top HEAVIER 3-4 albums. It's not perfect and has some pieces of crap on it....but that's ok, better than nothing!

If you have never heard this parody...this is funny as hell.....In a real fight, DLR vs Slash, my money would be on DLR, he's in great shape and Slash in a pudding ball

Dude, I'm tellin' ya... "Stay Frosty" kicks total f'n ass. The only thing I really hate about the new album is the piss-poor mastering job. It is WAY too compressed.
