GF-9191, line in mod

I have a beat up Sharp GF-9191, too bad for real collectors, to good for a parts box.
I really like the look of the GF-9191. But I mostly use my boomboxes to listen to my Mp3-Players. So I want to know, if someone, converted the phono in into a proper line in. Can someone explain that for a radio technics noob .
