Getting Crusted Or Frozen Antenna Screws Out!:0

Hi,I'm restoring my Sharp GF-9494H and all that's left is putting in new antennas.
Well I think I may have 1 loosening up but the other looks stripped. Please don't tell me the only way is to take the whole studs off and put them in a vice or something.
I have to take it all completely apart again!!!

Is there some miracle sprays or small reverse drill out that will work for this most common and very irritating problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are reversing bits you can get. Either that or drill it out. As long as you are patient you won't have to take the studs out.

The last resort will be using a dremel cutting wheel. But be careful when you do it. Wear eye protection and use steady hands.

I've taken messed up screw heads by making a straight cut along one of the cuts of the + of the screw head a little more deeper. It might make a small cut on the antenna post, but I've done that without making a cut on the post. The cut will fit a flat head screw driver tip to loosen it.

I had 100% success all the time with this method.

royce -- agree - if careful - thats a good method --

however -- long before he goes out shopping for these discs and / or the drill bits and/or the anti-seize oil -
and HOPE one of these tricks work ?
he could have had the box open and the stub replaced for a sure fix

Thanks guys,I'll try to drill out method and hope for the best,maybe a little anti-sieze oil or penetrationg oil also!

Great ideas around but this is the safest for sure. As you said, you don't want to remove the stud and by doing it this way you minimize the risk of damaging it.

Stubs are out,PB blaster is on but to no avail.
Just got a small cutting wheel!

Cutting wheel will work! I've done that so many times. Don't worry if you get slight cuts on the rims of the screw head hiding depression of the stub.

Well,I bought a small cutting wheel and the thing broke before I had a chance to start cutting!! Cheap China crap,going back tomorrow or Saturday.
But I did take studs out and with some precision drilling with a small bit I had success on one! The other got a little drilled out inside but thanks to the Parts GF-9494 box I had an extra antenna stud that happened to have the screw and wan't stripped!!
Now tomorrow I'm going to install the stud as i doing a little reinforcing of the antenna screw stud.
These things can really be a bitch sometimes!!!
Thank goodness for that 9494 parts box!!
