I'm not too sure all of that is necessary, but it would definitely be cool to have a turntable that you can control by using a smartphone. :cool:

I was listening to a podcast a while ago about steam punk where they said, that in our time there is still a high faszination with mechanical things and that in fact there is no old technology.
Just look at swiss watches. They are mechanic watches like hundert yeas ago. But with highly precise manufacturing technologies of todays world they still get better and better.
The same is true for sailboats. If you follow the Americas Cup you know what I talk about. Its crazy what happens there at the moment.
Thats what I see in this record player. New ideas and new technology to improve a devise that has been used for many years.
I wish this would be true for tape decks, too... (especially portable ones)

You bring up some very good points... Another example comes to mind. One of the things I like about Formula One racing is that automotive mechanical and areodynamic physics are combined with the newest of automotive performance technologies and pushed to extreme limits. That's why those cars cost around $2m each... I did not see any pricing info on the website so I have no idea what it cost$... But this is clearly way past the "audio point of diminishing returns" where you have to pay increasingly big $$$ for what is likely is an incremental improvement in sound quality vs. what you could get for considerably less $.

It took the designer 4 years to build in his spare time away from work, so this is all about a labor of love. I can't help but wonder if he's sold any?

I'd love to do a blind test of that turntable plugged into the same system as my 1200s....

Amazing....Obviously the point of all this is to improve the sound quality, but my ears are so blow out from loud music I would never tell the difference....I still love the pursuit of mechanical perfection :thumbsup:
