I would be grateful if members could tell me what the the general opinion of this brand of boomboxes is.

Which are the best ones?

Also, some general questions about a specific model - 3-5259A (Blockbuster)... What size woofers does it have? Approximately how much does it weigh? Can anyone decribe its sound as best they can? What boombox models from other manufacturers is it comparable to sound-wise? Is is bassy? Does it sound as good, or better than a Sanyo M9990? Also, is the cassette deck hard to fix?

RA --dont know how they got the name --
except BLOCKBUSTER is a good one --
they also call some of their items SUPER RADIO -which is smart :thumbsup:

have not had the 9990 for a few years --but my guess is they sound very similar
in quality-

i only know it was on a freddie kruger movie with johnny depp when he was a teen ,, not really sure but i think it was already named by ge as the blockbuster maybe some of the other guys can can shed some light on this...its a totally awesome box bass is deep its very simular to the realistic scr-8 but to me more better sounding... :yes: :yes:

I have a Sanyo M9990, and it's a truly awesome sounding box, I love it! :yes:

Also, the look of the Blockbuster suits that vintage Akai! :cool:

I have a Blockbuster as well and love the sound. You will find it has similar sound to a 9990 with more bass. But if you like the sound of the Blockbuster you will love the GE 6035...does everything better and louder than a Blockbuster.....here is a pic of mine... :-D ...but you can't go wrong with either one so you should get both.... :yes:

The 3-5259 blockbuster has more bass than the Sanyo but I think the Sanyo 9990 is a bit cleaner sounding.The two pictured 3-6035 and 3-6000 are both better performing boxes and even louder and bassier than the blockbuster.The 3-piece 3-5268 is probably their best box.It is from the same era as these models and is of the same higher build quality.All were manufactured before the quality slide of the mid 80s.

That's my pic but it was oldskools box until recently. These just have that ultra cool classic look and they have pretty good sound to back it up. :yes:
