Anyone own a GE Blockbuster 3-5259A that they would like to sell? I’m looking for a nice condition radio that has most of its original parts , knobs, speakers, antenna, etc. Thanks much.
I’m holding onto both of mine till I kick the bucket - very sorry! The are awesome and when they’re cranked the block will bust!
Setup some eBay searches because they seem to go up quite often and this will help you get a jump on auctions. Another secret is shopgoodwill.com, I got one from there that I’m fixing.
Thanks! I bought one new in 1984. Freaking loved it! I have two Sanyo M9994 boomboxes in nice condition, fully functional. All restored, even cassette tape player works flawlessly in both units. New belts, lubed, tuners work good. I am willing to do even trade with one of my Sanyos for a nice fully functional GE Blockbuster.
A couple of years ago, I sold a really nice one to a guy who told me he bought one brand new with his high school graduation money.
At some point it stopped working and he tossed it out which he said he always regretted.
After buying mine on eBay, he actually contacted me twice (one was several months later) to let me know how much he was enjoying it.
He said he had it in a display case and brought it out to show his family and friends.

This is a long shot but I had contacted a person that had a Blockbuster on Facebook, his name is Rus Puterang and I was going to buy his but I found one on Ebay at the same time. There is a chance he might still have it and would sell it. I think the tape deck needed service if I remember correctly. Search Facebook for him and my apologies to Rus for mentioning him but I know how the GE 3-5259A pulls at the heart strings. He was really nice - I think he is based in NY. Crossing my fingers for you!
