Just finished doing a full cosmetic restoration and electronic rebuild on this Lasonic TRC 920 I recently purchased on Ebay. Sadly enough, a pawn shop out in Texas had it in the listings as a "Lansonic" radio so it only had a few views and just a couple of bids. There was basically no description so I took a chance. The box was sort of a beater and was really dirty (sort of like someone had puked all over it!) but after a full disassembly, cleaning and plastic polish with Novus, the box shines almost like new and all functions work perfectly. The tape head was so dirty you could barely even hear sound from cassettes but after a good capstan and head cleaning / alignment it plays beautifully. I'm really happy with this box and it rocks pretty well considering it's smaller size compared to the big monsters. Now it's a happy boombox.
ROCK ON, LASONIC!!

Gorgeous box! You came up quite nicely on that one, we all know a certain member that is extremely fond of these 920's. I love all the chrome on these.

The 920 definitely has a good bling factor. That's one of the things I like most about it. Kristen's been making fun of me because I've been cranking my "Survivor" tape on it all night. I picked up a TRC931 a few months back up in Asheville. I'll be working on it soon. It works great but it's been coated in some sort of Armor All or who knows what to cover the wear and dirt. I'm going to pull it apart and give the case a good bath.

Awesome job! Love the 920's even with the loud snap when turning them on.

Thanks for the great comments!! I'm pretty picky. The 920 does come on with a loud "pop" similar to when you power on a Rowe CD100 jukebox from the '90s. I guess some amps are just a little sloppy when powered on. I think I'll tear into the Tecsonic J1 next. Found the EQ sliders for it online and that'll make a huge difference in itself. I'm going to do the full treatment on it. It's really, really dirty and a bit corroded, uggh.
