For those of you that don't currently have internet security or antivirus protection, you may want to consider Microsoft's new FREE internet security program for windows computers.

I've been using Norton AV for almost 15 years now but frankly, am getting tired of paying those annual "subscription" fees for each of my 6 computers. Each year seems to pass faster and faster and the fees seem ever higher. However, between the free programs offered as part of my internet service provider and Microsofts free downloaded utility, I might finally be able to free myself from that black hole.

The only requirement is that you have a LEGAL licensed copy of windows.

so far --every super high performance anti-virus we have tried have been
helpless when a bunch of teenagers run free on our computer -

when they download music (limewire) and movies and porn --
and even an innocent site like
the surf report channel - :surf:

its all pop-ups and attacks -right after that

- the virus geeks are smarter than the anti-virus geeks

I've also been running the free AVG for a long time with no problems. I'll check it out though, cant hurt to have another line of defense.

In conjunction with NOD32, I also have a custom "hosts" file with nearly 40,000 entries. :-D

I use AVG free, you have to watch out on version 9.0, when it installs and if you don't pay attention it runs an "optimization scan" in the back ground and uses a lot of resources, it is a known bug for them, I just removed my version 9.0 on my wife Linda's computer and re-installed it paying attention to all the window messages, ( she installed it before I did), there is another thing you do if you already are using version 9.0 and your computer seems slow, which involves booting up into safe mode and deleting the AVG file, but other wise AVG free has worked fine for us.
