Hi,this is for all of us original buyers that bought your boomboxes brand new off of the shelf.
How much money did your first 3 in the 1970's and 1980's boxes cost you new and how much for the 'Big Ones' that you saw???!!!:) :0

Mine is as follows:
(1)May 1980' Manhattan,NYC,NY. Sanyo M9970
brand new in box-$149.00.
I remember wanting one with twin antennas but they were around $200.00 and up:0
I think I saw a 9994 and a Big Ben but nor for sure. They were definauely over $200.00!

(2)September 1981' brand new in the box Sharp GF-8989II $189.00!!
Hard to remember much more,I was at
Team Electronics in Ridgedale Mall in Minnetona,Mn. Just might remember a larger GF but not sure,I'll have to think about that fall purchase-what a special Boombox!!!!!

(3)Last but not least:Started looking at the JVC PC-55's & 550!!:0
First looked at in winter of 1984'.retail $999.00!!!!:0 on sale at that time for $799.00.
Then went on sale for $699.00 in spring of 1985'
I bought mine later in the spring for $599.00 (shelf model) at Daytons.Came with all papers and owners manual, just no original box bit I did remember asking.
When I was at Team Electronics looking earlier I was almost talked into the black PC-550JW black version the the PC-55!! Same cost but I wanted silver. At that time I wan't really looking at anything else as I wanted this bad!!
Yes I still have it and love it,my pride and Joy!!!:):)

So tell us what you paid, when and how much for the Grails if you remember??!!

BTW-is it true the Sharp GF-9696 was around 459.00??!! Wow!!!:)

I seem to remember my TRC-920 being just over $200....Maybe $220 max. I remember wanting the Realistic SCR-8, but it was $240-$250.

But there has been so much :weed: since then, I could be way off
