Hi,

I'm rather annoyed. I've had an FM transmitter for a while now, and to be quite accurate, it was rubbish.

Today I invested in a new one. It's a lot better than the first one I had, the first one was a Tevion 8218, and it made a pop noise every second. It was also very weak. This new one is a Belkin TuneCast II, and it doesn't pop like the other, but it's also very weak. It's very hard to get a clear signal even when it's right next to the boombox. There is a lot of Stereo hiss when the FM Stereo option on the boombox is on. The volume is also lower than other FM signals.

I see lots of people raving about how good FM transmitters are, but mine are rubbish. Are there any amazing ones, which are powerful?

Thanks.

That's what our local pirates use, I'm currently lusting after a 30 watt one myself.
Wow those are  . Must save some money for one proper i know :-/ .
This video was made with belkin too. not best but work for some fun. When good positioned work in close distance. Must choose really empty from broadcast freq (really hard now days :sadno: ) and can have some result.

I find the audio to be marginal on all the ones I've tried, but there's a lot of technology involved in FM sound broadcasting and radio stations use processing equipment costing thousands of pounds to get a 'loud' sounding audio.
It's also very easy to over-deviate an FM transmitter (causes that splattering effect on the treble and interference to other stations due to the increased bandwidth) which is another eason the audio is quieter, as a safeguard..

I find my I-trip to be ok as these things go. Just ok.

The C.Crane FM Transmitter works great and it's FCC legal. I have two of them and with good receivers and the transmit power turned up to max I can cover the whole house. They run for days on AA batteries and have a built in timer so you can have it turn off after a set number of hours, this is great for listening to internet radio or music on the computer sent to my receiver when I go to bed.

I have that same belkin FM transmitter. it works great through my house. I found the secret is to make sure to tune into a really really weak station. Then tune the transmitter to that station.

I've tried tuning into weak stations, but I still get a lot of hiss and the signal often goes completely if I walk between the boombox and the transmitter.

Strange i agree bout the hiss. But i can walk between and no dist :hmmm: . Try to turn up the volume of the transmitting unit. This way you have less hiss  .
