FM a little distorted/too bassy

Is there any way to slightly adjust something which may cause these symptoms without needing to learn how to align fully?
All other functions in this instance are good.
The unit is an aka of the Helix 4630.

Mine didn't receive full power to the tuner until I cleaned the controls. So it couldn't even get stereo until I did that.

I've given the controls a good contact clean, the other bands are clear so I think the band switch seems ok.

How about the stereo pots near the decoder chip, usually labelled VR1 and VR2?

I took a look in there but to be honest the stereo light comes on strong. There are a couple of VR's and one did affect stereo but not the quality of the audio.
I think to be sure to eliminate the band selector I would need to remove it, open and rebuild nice and clean.

Does the sound change if you move it in between bands?

It's really quite hard to tell as it is not obvious really. It depends on the type of instruments playing at the time to hear it just right but I would say it is very slight.
I think voices and treble areas seem ok but the bass is somehow distorted or over pronounced.
