E clips flying away!
It has happened to me so many times and I was lucky every time to find them.
last night I was servicing my Nakamichi 500 cassette deck. I had no service manual but was able to open it all up and work on it. Found the tape transport problem. Fixed all the transport issues.
Frozen idler wheel axle with dried up grease was the issue for play, rew and FF not engaging properly.
After taking out and cleaning all old dried up grease on the frozen axle, cleaned and lubed it, slided it on the axle, and when I gently put the 4mm E-clip on the slot and reached for the pliers....it flew away
OMG I looked all over and he was gone with the wind.
I was happy I fixed the problem. Now I need to get an e clip assortment to find the right one.
I am planning to try Autozone. Let me where I can walk in and buy those?
