It's been a long time since I used these two classic Sanyo's. I bought them a long time ago when I first started consciously collecting (2003-2005) and they kind of sit on one of my shelves. I added the Fatdog sticker fairly recently to the 9998 although it's not technically correct. 9998L not K.

The 9998 fired up first time and played the cassette well whereas the 9994 needs a little tlc cosmetically and technically. Enjoy the vids

Love the 9994, the top panel really does it for me. While its easier to pick up the stereo imaging on the 9998 the two boxes actually sound quite similar in the video, is that the case?

Cool De La tune to :afro:

They sound similar, not that much different. I've always given the 9998 the edge but that could be because it's healthier.

The 9994 is one the top 10 best-built 1-pieces. And the tweeters are much better than the 9998

I don't hear them being 'much' better
