This morning, the Postman, delivered a Boombox that has eluded My grasp for approx. 32 years. When I was about 15 years of age, My parents took Me to a local electronics store to buy Me a Boombox. I recall entering the store with excitement, and amazed at all the displayed electronics on the shelves. I walked up and was stunned to see the coolest looking, and largest Boombox they carried. It was the big Sony CFS-99. It looked so futuristic in it's styling. I'm sure I had the same look little Ralphie had (A Christmas Story), as he drooled over that Red Rider, Range model, 200 shot BB gun (with the compass in the stock). I begged My parents to buy it for Me. They said it was out of their budget, and could only afford the Smaller sibling, the Sony CFS-500. I was sad, but appreciative of what they could buy Me. Though I would be grateful for the smaller Sony, I always yearned for,"the One that got away". Well, fast forward 32 years or so, I contacted Peter (Fresh Produce) and found he had acquired a few big Sonys. After months of gently prodding that I'd Really like to trade for one or buy one from him, Peter texted Me that he's sending Me one. All of My offered trades, he already owned. So what happened next? I receive a CFS-99 on My doorstep. I look at the USPS shipping label and see that Peter paid over $126 to ship this box to Me
. Now, I had been asking him what I could send him to cover shipping costs or the price of the radio. All Peter says is, "We'll figure something out in the future - if You come across a Radio I like". Rest assured, I will send Peter the shipping costs, plus a little more for what this means to Me. I just had to share this story with all the Boomboxery familia, of how this has now filled a void from My teenage Boombox/Breakdancing years. Thank You so much Brother Peter
. You do have the Boomboxery spirit within You. This is a very special place We have here.
