This morning, the Postman, delivered a Boombox that has eluded My grasp for approx. 32 years. When I was about 15 years of age, My parents took Me to a local electronics store to buy Me a Boombox. I recall entering the store with excitement, and amazed at all the displayed electronics on the shelves. I walked up and was stunned to see the coolest looking, and largest Boombox they carried. It was the big Sony CFS-99. It looked so futuristic in it's styling. I'm sure I had the same look little Ralphie had (A Christmas Story), as he drooled over that Red Rider, Range model, 200 shot BB gun (with the compass in the stock). I begged My parents to buy it for Me. They said it was out of their budget, and could only afford the Smaller sibling, the Sony CFS-500. I was sad, but appreciative of what they could buy Me. Though I would be grateful for the smaller Sony, I always yearned for,"the One that got away". Well, fast forward 32 years or so, I contacted Peter (Fresh Produce) and found he had acquired a few big Sonys. After months of gently prodding that I'd Really like to trade for one or buy one from him, Peter texted Me that he's sending Me one. All of My offered trades, he already owned. So what happened next? I receive a CFS-99 on My doorstep. I look at the USPS shipping label and see that Peter paid over $126 to ship this box to Me :jawdrop: . Now, I had been asking him what I could send him to cover shipping costs or the price of the radio. All Peter says is, "We'll figure something out in the future - if You come across a Radio I like". Rest assured, I will send Peter the shipping costs, plus a little more for what this means to Me. I just had to share this story with all the Boomboxery familia, of how this has now filled a void from My teenage Boombox/Breakdancing years. Thank You so much Brother Peter  . You do have the Boomboxery spirit within You. This is a very special place We have here. 99 Front.jpgIMG_20141023_101746.jpgRear.jpg

That's amazing !
Such a great box and such a great boombrother  !
Could you do a sound comparison to other known boxes :), I'm curious if it sounds as big as it looks.

Peace

Thank You, thank You. I do need to get a particular power cord for it. Apparently, it uses a unique type of end. If anyone as one, I'd be very grateful. I'll post a pick of one that Peter texted Me. He only has his 1 for his. My standard oval shaped cords are to big around to fit into the port.

That is the top AMS model. I have both models of this. That CFS rocks. Congrats Adam! It is an unimitable style. So unique. For some reason one of my models sounds a lot better than the other.

Thanks. Any spare cords? Or specific info on this type?

What a story...and what an outcome. Peter has shown me the way of the Big Sony's and schooled me on why these are so bitchen. I have seen and blasted that very radio and it's a gem.

Peter is cranking up some serious Blaster Carma and has some good luck coming his way.

Of all the radio's that come and go, the ones that were deep in the memory are the very best of all.

Congrats Adam and nice work Peter!

I couldn't wait to do this pic. Ironically, both Sonys were surprises from Peter . The smaller Sony, He and Adrian (Mac Daddy Freshness) had autographed by several of the Dallas Cowboys Football players. Sony siblings.jpg

iv'e had this happen to me twice ,minus the autographs. its an awesome feeling when somebody does this, on both sides of the coin. sometimes it does feel better to give than to receive ,but sure does feel great when you are the recipient lol.

awesome all the way around, i'm happy for you man.

That's a good idea:

Here is a comparison pic of an old Braun AC power shaver cord and a standard Boombox cord:
