I've been looking for a Wheely 5000 for a very long time, and today the dream became a reality. This thing is in pretty rough shape, and it's going to need a ton of work, but I'm super excited about finally getting my hands on one of these.

That's great. Every time I see one of these I can see a lot of Conion C100 in them in the LED Light Bar and I Wonder if the side protector rails are the same...just bigger...

Thanks everybody for the kind words. I agree, this thing has a lot of similarities to the C100........but what really got my attention was when I set it next to the C100, it almost made the Conion look like a mini! The C100 does weigh a lot more than the 5000.........so I'm going to assume that the sound quality of the Wheely is not in the same ballpark, but I just had to have one of these. This was not a local find. I actually found it on Ebay for a BIN price, and I believe I saw it within a few minutes of the seller posting it up. It came out of Virginia, and although it wasn't cheap, I believe I got it for a pretty fair price.

I'm sure you will have that thing cleaned up and going in no time. They truly are massive. Still can't make up my mind to try for one of these or a Super Jumbo J1. :hmmm:

Awesome glad you got your grail box. believe it or not they had TV commercials advertising these radios that's how I bought the first one I had back around 1990-91 something like that I ended up pawning it to buy a sub box for my car.

Cool. I saw that one and minutes after they listed they dropped the price $100 and the next time I checked it was gone. Still a cool find. I hope you get it blasting again.

CONGRATULATIONS

Man, that ain't in rough shape. MY WHEELY was in rough shape    Blu_Fuz and Dr DER can attest to that! :bang:

But she is 97% perfect now. I have one tiny detail to get worked out (soon) and it will be 98% perfect
(except that horrible burn mark in the top  )

AND YOU GOT THE ONE WITH THE SLIDERS UNDER THE EQ!!!

Thanks again to all for the great comments! I'm chomping at the bit to open this thing up and get started on it. It did take some damage from shipping. The FM button broke off, the blue cassette door came off, and both decks got punched into the box. It does power up, but all I can currently get out of it is a humming noise. Somebody had the box open before, because several of the screws are missing. It's also missing the mic, echo, bal, vol knobs, but I'm thinking I'll either just use something I already have on those, or maybe I'll even try to turn some out of a chunk of aluminum. This box is definitely going to be the centerpiece of my collection. My two sons are already fighting over which one of them is going to inherit this thing some day!!!!!!!
