FEMALE on the beach !!!

2 hours ago --just before dark --
this cool turtle visited my beach -- to lay her eggs

hard to tell size from this shot --
she was the same width and length as the original VW bug

That is SO cool! I watch all those nature shows and it's sad to hear that one-three out of every thousand hatchlings will live to adult hood I love his pic.

right adam --
the mother turtles plant their eggs way up high on the beach --above the high tides lines --
then their babies --MOST of them --get eaten by birds --while they are on their first missions
to get down the beach --to the sea --

but the ones that do make it -- are BIG MOTHAS !!!!

So cute. Im proud of myself and my girl - a month ago i noticed small turtle trying to cross the busy road. I stopped my suv blocking the whole road whit blinking hazards and my girl moved the turtle in safety. Few drivers went crazy a bit , but who cares .
