As I sit here waiting for what the weather people are saying will be the end of days with "long lived tornadoes" and "epic wind" (yeah acutally heard that this morning). Schools have already announced they are closing 2 hours early. Oh, and FYI....the Mrs. is TERRIFIED of tornadoes and bad weather.

It got me to thinking something I've wondered for a very long time.

What is the worst natural weather condition? Rain (or water), Wind, or Fire. (Not to be confused with Earth, Wind & Fire )

Things to consider:

Rain (or Water)
Floods
Rising Water
Hurricane
Tsunami
Slick Roads
Drowning
Leaky Pipe, can rot wood, grow mildew that will kill you
Lack of water will kill you

Wind
Tornado
Hurricane
Can blow you or your car off the road
Can snap trees in two
Adds fuel to fire

Fire
Well, kinda destroys everything. It's sole purpose is to destroy things.

Fire is the worst because to put the fire out, you have to introduce WATER!


But then again I have seen entire homes destroyed simply from a bursted water pipe on the second floor that leaked for WEEKS then had the entire place fill with MOLD and be condemed by the city authority .

I don't know Mrs FD. All those things scare the hell out of me!

Back in 1994 when the Northridge Earthquake hit, that was one of the most insane things I had seen up to that point in my life. That SCARED the shiat out of me! After a person goes through an event like that your world is convoluted. You can't sleep, eat, or get any rest. Your mind is always racing thinking the ground is shaking...then the aftershocks further frazzle you.

Last year while in Japan and going through those Typhoons was scary, but at least we knew it was coming, but it still made for a long night. yet after, you knew it was over.

There is no way I could live in Tornado Alley, I just couldn't do it. Knowing every year they will be coming. EVERY YEAR! In Southern California, it seems to be about every 20+ years (btw, we are due!)

Once, while on tour with the band in Kansas we experienced a tornado. I never saw it, it was at night. We were listening to the radio when the music cut and a tornado warning came on. We didn't have GPS back then, so when they said there was a tornado spotted at Johnson and Country Avenue, all we knew was that we were on Johnson.....we were freaking out. A short time later we found a small hotel and stayed the night. The next morning when we got back on the highway, less that 10 miles down the road, the road was GONE! Scoured off the face of the earth. A section 40 feel long of a 4 lane highway GONE!

I'm not sure how the people from Florida on up handle Hurricane season, For that matter, the whole gulf coast as well.

Well, I guess it's a matter of pick your poison. Before I moved out of the mountains, I had to always worry about massive forest fires....Just a few years ago we had to evacuate, pack up everything and run like hell. I'm glad those days are gone!

Today six states has 19 warnings it's crazy on whats going on with the weather.

I experienced hurricane Katrina in Miami I was on guard duty when it got too windy I've decided to evacuate the guard house and head to the condominium when all of a sudden I was literally being pushed by the winds it had me running but I was not running it was the winds that pushed me very scary.

anything that involves losing your house is always bad :'-( ,,hurricanes depending on the category at least is not real bad unless u have a 4 and 5 but if u live in a sturdy house its doable sometimes... tornadoes on the other hand more than likely will tear your house to shreads hopefully its not one of ours since it may hit yours and leave your neighbours intact ,,floods are not good unless it does not go beyond the 1/4 point anything above that u cannot live inside and have lost everything fire basicly the samething depending the serverity which is very low once it starts your house pretty much is gone with everthing inside it..earthquake does a lot of damage but like everthing else u dont know exactly were its going to hit and on top of that if u live near the coastal waters tsunami warning and hopefully u are not in that area God forbid..so to me depending on the severity..... but still not good we always try to say i will not live there because of this and that but still if it not one thing it will be the other plus i forgot the snow which in anycase as long as u have heat or wear good clothes u are ok if not they may find u in a iceberg state like they found ira one time
