Hi Ya'll ,

after reading so many posts that mention ebay as ePay and talk about ebay sellers and rip-offs and
overpriced tapes i thought to make a post.

Not all ebay sellers are there to rip-off buyers, i know because i am one !
not by design but i am on there and have sold hundreds of tapes, obviously my prices aren't all that bad !
members here on boomboxery have probably purchased from me not knowing and visa versa.

i have been told i CAN talk about selling tapes just not about a boombox if i decide to part with one
am not a big time collector i only have a couple good boxes so really i didn't get on here to advertise tapes and boomboxes
only to join a forum that is about boomboxes and trade info about them etc.

i sell mostly Maxell XLII and such and i only charge what the tapes generally sell for
AND know that tapes should be packed properly within reason which some people wouldn't know the difference but whatever

Not all sellers lie about their items !

i can't talk about what else i am selling here because i don't have enough of a rating to do so !
i guess i could flood the system with a bunch of posts and gain a rating that way but i really don't know anyone here
to carry on such a messaging volley and i won't do that anyway unless i had something a little useful to say or add.

am sure you have all seen my thing, and atleast i am being honest about it regardless of what i am asking for it
which may seem like alot to all the rich people who don't want it anyway, lol.

when i see the same box that dosen't work / cassette dosen't work sell for hundreds of dollars, more than once
i figure i should get just as much for mine since it has a great working cassette and is in similar condition.
but i have never been able to haggle with anyone since they make an offer and never communicate !
and the offer system leaves me open to non-paying bidders and a big hassle !

AND NO not selling my M80 ! no way !

so i will end up keeping it which is cool too, didn't want to sell it in the first place but
am a poor lowly musician who needs equipment more than a boombox or tapes
yet i aint giving it away !

So next time you think about slamming ebay or a seller, remember that not all of them are evil ! lol
make sure to slam the ones that deserve it !
i aggree that many sellers deserve a real beating !!!!

Good Luck to ALL !

I just want to say I agree with you, but in defense it's not all sellers the members are speaking of. Matter of fact many of us are those sellers/buyers....But over my time of selling/ buying on EBay, especially as a buyer the biggest issue has always been the shipping end. We ask sellers to please pack these up nice and the sellers states ......oh, I've been shipping for ...... many years and I always do my best then you get a $200 box in pieces because seller only used paper to line a box smaller than the bbx :nonono:

As for prices, the saying has always been what the buyer is willing to pay and for however much the seller is willing to let it go for ;-) I do know that there have been topics on high prices, but without these topics a lot of members may lose interest in posting. I wish you luck in all your sales  By the way do you sell any Reel to Reels :hmmm: :-D

since owning and using an actual 8 track reel to reel back in the day i thought the cassette reel tapes would
be really cool, and they do look great in these boomboxes.
yet i sold all my reel cassettes years ago after testing and viewing waveforms of playback which showed
the noise from the reels i knew i heard, lol but they do look so freakin' cool !
yet i am after sound quality not just looks . . . sorry my reel tapes had been the first to go !

YES ! packing issues ! next to sellers that lie about items the packing is the biggest thing wrong
with buying anything that requires shipping.
Very few know or understand what kind of packing is required and think insurance is some kind of
force field. IF i do sell my thing i will certainly post photos of the (my) packing.

i have packed & shipped big mixing boards, upright arcade games and 1000+ other items
that required all types of packing thought, and the thing no one seems to think about >>> unpacking.
have you ever got an item or boombox that was really well packed yet needed surgical skill to carefully unpack
from all the tape used, what a hassle.

Not even the big Music stores know how to pack, they throw $500 microphones in the corner of a box and fill the rest
with paper and one place even threw in a bunch of individually wrapped candy (with bits of candy dust on the wrappers)
in with my order of $700 worth of 2 microphones ! yep ! right up against my mic boxes which i had to de-contaminate before they could even be moved.

YES ! Packing is very very important, and so are the tapes that go into these priceless boomboxes and cassette decks
yet i guess its fine with most people since they do not even think about that ! and no one understands what
tape shock is.......when a tape has been jarred / dropped even in its packaging even in a bubble pack . . .
this can cause misalignment and affect the moving parts etc. in the tape itself.
often a simple solution (even though the tape shell has probably been loosened)
is to fully rewind the tape from both sides
to reel and re-reel the tape before recording or playback.

and unless you are an expert at using a handheld demagnetizer many metal tapes are just head destroyers, lol
thats why i like the good old standard type II tapes, good sound and less head wear.

Good luck to everyone !

Most of the time when I leave an offer, the seller never makes a counter-offer......They just ignore it. Oh well, hope they enjoy re-listing it, because nobody is buying it.

That's actually what most sellers are these days....Buy at garage sales, re-sell on Ebay. Non-collectors who think someone is going to pay $199 for an egg.
