Hey everyone, it's been a while since I was in the boombox game. Just some personal stuff got in the way, but I'm still here. Lately, I haven't found any Grails. I'll post more often, so stay tuned.

I Did Find A NIB Sony CFS 500, The First Boombox That Got Me Into Collecting

Glad to see you back, I was wondering where you were.

Always great to have a mint version of the box that started it all ,plus seeing something that old that's still in perfect condition is a trip back in time to when these were new.

Oh and I love me some old school Sony, especially the car audio, during the late 80s through the 90s Sony car amps and CD head units were ****ing fantastic.

Damn, he's gone for ages then drops in with a "haven't found much lately just a nib CFS-500" !!!!

I'd say that was a great score, love those things. Sony did it different to the crowd and we glad they did.

Welcome back FP

Welcome back FP.

I got to see that 500 in person before leaving Cali, it's 100% brand new. Amazing time capsule.

I'll tell ya, when I first start collecting, I didn't fully connect with the Sony line up. Maybe I was too hung up on Lasonic's, or didn't have enough face time with them, but after working on the CFS-99 and seeing so many of your Sony collection, that changed my whole view. I finally "Got" the angled tuner dial and the high end Sony build quality and deck precision. Maybe not "amateur re-belting friendly" but when these decks are dialed in, they are at the top of the food chain. Of course, the prices reflect that too. Sure would like to add a 99 to the collection one day.

Thanks everybody! Glad to be back, so many new people all over the forum. I'm telling you guys I feel like Sony boxes are over looked by a lot of collectors, they have some really well built boxes with great sound and the design of some of them are really unique.
