hi all

There is a discolite on ebay.au and if anyone is interested in it I advise to avoid, the bidder b***b has only placed bids on items from this seller across a number of categories.

30-Day Summary
Total bids: 46
Items bid on: 15
Bid activity (%) with this seller: 100%
Bid retractions: 0
Bid retractions (6 months): 2

Clear case of shill bidding and I suspect that is why one bidder has already retracted their bids, buyer/bidder beware. I have sent a question asking about it, will report back if they respond.

No, it was about the bidding, this is what I received from the seller

"please if you are not happy or have concerns with the bidding on this item then it is simple do not bid as you and everyone else on ebay are not obligated to buy any of my items

so its simple please do not bid .......as i have 56 people watching this item and have had 5 x big offers to buy outright and i have not taken them up on there offers as it would not be fair"

ahh ok.

Who can tell these days.. everyone with an eBay account and a DiscoLite and no love of boomboxes thinks they're going to retire on it these days.

Rock On.

I agree, but it's still no reason to screw buyers. If they want a reserve price list it for that, list it for 99c and you should be happy with whatever you get. It's a way to skirt the listing fees I guess.

Ebay is full of arrogant a-holes...(judging by that seller's response).
Lucky for me i don't care for discolites as i think they're cruddy.

Due to so many unfortunate, disappointing Ebay purchases, I have officially stopped buying anything I can't view/test before purchasing. So many Ebay sellers come up with the old: "I don't have any tapes to test" or the classic "Untested, sold as is"

These boomboxes are complex devices, they are old and being portable, have often been misused over the years. How can you buy with confidence with all these variables over the net with a few blurry photos to go by? Every seller seems to think it's OK to just dismiss every issue with the old "I don't know much about these things - maybe a buyer who knows about these things should buy it"

Local Ebay sellers are OK for a come and see it session but unfortunately, not many sellers seem to reside in Brisbane, QLD.

Local "Wanted" ads are the way to go!! Or the local Gumtree.com.au sometimes have some gems: I just picked up a Yamaha component tape deck from 1998 that is in excellent condition. I could view it locally before I bought and after a test, I gave it a thumbs up and paid my $20  - It makes beautiful recordings too!!

James.... :-)

Can't be any clearer than that. I suggest you just report this to eBay. They will investigate and if this other account really does only bid on the sellers items only then there is no doubt and eBay will probably close both accounts. I don't like game playing like that.

I always suspect that too, when the bidder has (0) or (1) feedback score, but they keep bumping the price up! :nonono:

:agree: That's blatant, as bad as eBay can be I'd be surprised if they didn't deal with this.
Of course the seller being an A-Hole will likely just stand up 2 more accounts and start all over.

It looks like ebay are onto him, I can't find any of his listings now.

It's still up, ebay.au don't care about this sort of thing if they think they will make some $$ on the FVF.

The sellers name is treasurecleanout, I say everyone should boycott his listings from now on
