The options you have don't apply to me. I did buy one in the early 80's. But didn't sell it. I gave it away. A JVC RCM-90. But I found one 3 years ago for 50 bucks :-)

Bought a Aiwa CA-70 new in the 80's with my lawn mowing money.(I think I was about 13 or 14) Used the heck out of it. Sweet sounding box!! Tape deck quit working and started making wierd noises. Made a motor running noise anytime it was plugged in?!?! Cosmetically was getting a little beat. I think I eventially pitched it.

My grandfather loved mine so much he bought one too. Just realized over the holidays he still had his. Been sitting on a shelf in the furnace room. I know the tape deck quit working and I noticed the left woofer surround is gone. Gonna try to bring it back to life if I can next time I see him.

Oh the memories!

Got a Rising SRC 2015 when new in the mid 80's.
It got destroyed in a mugging that nearly left me for dead.
Thirty plus years later I own one again, plus a few others.
I have acquired some other boxes throughout the 3 or so years of collecting
That I would have liked to own back then as well.

It was 1985 I was 16.
I bought a brand new Philips D8644 from a mates brov in law. Cost me £140 - they where retailing at £200+ back then.
Because I was a friend of the family He let me pay him back £15 a week.
I was a big loud 3 piecer which at about 2ft+ in length & heavy [without the D Cells] wasn't excactly portable :-D
So it lived in my room for about the next 10yrs - I can still hear Dad yelling to TURN IT DOWN!!!
Anyway, it died sometime in the early 90s & I ended up throwing it in a skip when we were having a clearout :dunce:
Regretted it at the time & ever since :'-( Still on the hunt for one. They just don't turn up in the UK.
Why didn't I fix it?? God knows
Oh & get this - My job at the time......... Electronics Repair Engineer
