Custom JVC RC-550 with a Foster woofer.

:-D Hi ya; I just found this 550 in my storage and decided to give it life. First I open it up clean it with with a sponge with soap and water then dry it all up gave it a good tuner cleaner I then replace the original woofer that was super dryed to it cracking and breaking up paper so I replace it with a 10 inch Foster woofer and chrome capped the original midrange then put it back togethter and whalla: It sounds stuning like a shelf sytem, I also replaced the fuse to a crytal new one. I love it. :-D

I like the way he casually mentions he "found" it in his storage.

Very nice LLopez, I was outbid for one of these recently, I thought $350 was enough..... :-/

:-D :-D :bow: I'm glad ya like it, It really nothing to it, I seen better mods then this one. The Foster gives it that extra bass sound this 550 really needed. I now have to see if I find another in my storage as I have so much stuff in there I don't know what I may bump into, Or maybe one will fall in my head take me take me :lol: .

Wow, that's pretty damn sweet. Nothing better then a good ol' scrubbin' with a sponge to bring out the best in a radio! I bet it sounds refreshed with that new woofer!

I know where all my RC-550s are... I just don't remember how many I have... I think 4 or 5, but I am not sure... :hmmm:

exactly why i changed the woofer on my 550 the factory ones are not that great ,,, finding one that will fit without to much mod is really what you want, i was able to find a sony 10 speaker that fitted almost perfect and the sound is truely awesome a lot better than the original,, i know mono boxes really do not sound that great but improvements are always welcome....... :yes: :yes: :-)

Years produced?

Who was the target customer?

Number & types of radio bands?

Stereo on the headphone out or mono all the way?

Just based on how it looks it went way up on my bucket list of cool things to eventually have.

:-D Those Fishers are awesome man with white Fisher speakers sounds way better too. And this thanks to oldskool69, The other Fisher the 460 I have it hooked up to my computer. :yes: Thank u fellas I wanted to share this cause the JVC 550 sounds good but can sound better as Ramon mention. It not only sounds better but it looks better with those chrome caps. It really came out really nice. :yes: Is an honor to share wit hthe crew here. :yes:
