If that ad was made in 1980 then the mx 920 would be pretty Advanced Boombox for the time. I'm pretty sure the old man in the Ad was thinking if this young kid would just get a job you can afford a Boombox like me when he prefers to stand around looking cool instead.

This was aimed at a Japanese audience as well, so it's anyone's guess what the implication is here... they're a straaaaange country
