The Box of Boom

Member (SA)
Just before christmas a workmate found an RX-DT900 on the side of the road and brought it in to me. Unfortunately it wasn't working ... nothing would work.

Another work mate who likes to do up old radios, picked me to take me to see "Jeff the Brotherhood" last night, pulled out of his station wagon the 900. He took it home at christmas time (without telling me) opened it up (he said he had to even customise a screwdriver to be extra long) and got it working. He even used a car plastic polish and made it super shiny and new looking.

What a mate ! The only problem was he said the speaker foam had blown in both speakers. So I will have to find replacements or try to refoam myself (which i have never done).

So we hop in his car and drive to the concert ... we round two corners from my house and i spot something. An RX-DT680 sitting on the kerb. We did an illegal u-turn and there is a great condition thumper with remote looking out for a new owner. We couldn't believe it.

I have the 680 sitting on my work desk this morning playing commercial radio. Unfortunately the CD doesn't seem to be working (if anyone has tips to fix - please let me know) but I have not tried the tape as yet. At low volume this is a great box, can't wait to turn it up. I was very tempted to do so when Blind Melon "No Rain" came on before.
