Well it has arrived!

It came a few hours ago so I took it apart real quick to see what's what and give it a clean.

Someone has been in before as there are no belts and it looks like it's been cleaned internally already, which is nice, just a few black spots had to be cleaned where the old belt has turned to goo. I'm assuming the previous owner couldn't find belts for it and left them as is.

There's power to both cassette drive motors and both motors run when you short the micro switch on the mech - nice.

AUX in works perfectly, the radio I couldn't test properly as I don't have an aerial although I was getting the nice static sound and what sounded like music shuffling through the frequencies.

As you can see both doors are intact, tape 1 has the little tooth broken off on the left hand side where the base of the cassette door latches and pivots (radio side), both doors are in in nice condition - just gave a quick clean as there was nicotine stains on them, and on the front panel.

I was tempted to take the tape 2 door off and use it on the C-100F, mine would be the only one with an original Conion tape door that says Tape 2, it'd confuse everyone :)
By the way, the doors fit the C-100 perfectly - including the two spring holes! So cool!

It's a beast, it measures 56.5 cm wide, 16.5 cm high and 26.5 cm deep (including the buttons).

She's a beauty.

Anyway, less of my waffle, here's some photos.

Great stuff, it arrived super quick.
In all honesty, i’d take the tape 1 door for the c100 if I needed one.
Otherwise, overall great score, congrats.

It’s a nice thing. Like that it even has the tape run indicator. But yeh I’d still totally snaffle the deck door for a C100 lol

I'm unsure as to what to do with regards to the tape door situation as it's a rarity but I need a tape door!

This is a rare beauty. Sel seriously, if you ever want to resell it as is send me a message.
I love it, its a unique machine. Not many around.

The Conion tape door you may need for replacing it over a C-100 can be found here:

https://www.shapeways.com/product/FKZHSCWSM/conion-c100-custom-replacement-door-ver-2?optionId=88323088&li=shops

plus there are to many Conions, Clairtones, Helixs and other aka units. I am sure with a little patience parts can be found eventually.
For me is a shame to sacrifise a one of a kind find from Conion, a radio cassete receiver with killer looks just to canibalise a tape door.
Just my 2 cents. Congratulations for getting it ! :)

I think that this unit deserved to be saved, when you look at it you can see where the c100 came from.

I seen a thousand c100 but I never seen one of these.

I've been thinking about this unit so much over the past few days and as you all have said this is much, much rarer than the C-100F and is definitely worth saving instead of me pinching a door.

As I wanted it just for the door I don't have a massive need for the whole unit itself (I have amps coming out of my ears) so I'll pass this on.

It's a beautiful looking machine, my favourite part of it is the VU meters, they have this very cool prism effect, so damn cool!

Thanks man, I'm sure it'll go to a great home. There's been some interest from a few people so I invite them to send me a PM to work something out.

Just had another V-121 arrive today too, something about Conions this week :)
