compared to the original and reissue of the 90s.

the i 931 is nothing to write home about

The older ones are heavier, made better, and have a great warm and DEEEEP sound.
Lasonic beats most all other big name brands. and it can hit high notes just fine, and it may not be considered hi fi, but I dare anybody to say there is anything better to blast with :-)

The i931 looks the part and is better than all the eggs floating around. just doesn't have the feel of an old lasonic and the bass is lacking.
this is due to the digital stuff and there not being a graphic equalizer and loudness button

the older 931s are the way to go.

the 975s are okay, but they are plagued with interior ratttle and other little probs. (I have had plenty 975s lol)
I won't own one anymore, the boards always seem to have probs, the channels go bad etc etc.

the 931 has very tight but DEEP bass :afro:

the 975 is a rattler
good bass, but sounds like a 68 chevy truck riding on railroad tracks when cranked up

931s are plentiful and go for cheap-parts are easier to get as well ;-)

But by all means, pick up an i 931! before they dissappear! I can't even find a white on white right now

Sound-wise, the i931 is most definitely cleaner sounding & just as loud as the TRC-931 but its bass is hollow & weaker mostly due to the
internal woofer baffles & lack of full ventilation in the back...

For pretty good highs, max out the treble & set the i931 EQ to "LOUDNESS" ('cause all the other EQ settings suck ass)
+ set the iPod EQ to "Treble Booster"...

Other than removing most/all of the woofer baffles, there's probably not much you can do about the bass...
Sounds better without 'em even if it's somewhat hard to immediately tell the difference.

I think the best place for the i 931 is outside where you can crank it up :breakdance:
the i931 can shine above 30 (vol)

I jus set it to loudness and put the ipod equalizer to bass booster cuz i love bass but on certain songs it jus ends up being a nasty bass sound, like a vibrating box of plastic haha

Yeah, it is a great outside box... Deep bass isn't much of an issue when you're outside in a wide open space
'cause no matter what box you rock, you won't really hear it or feel it...

Besides, outside, the loudest box in a battle wins!

Hahaha yea i know that for sure. I had it on BLAST passing through this park and stopped for a while and this lady yelled for me to turn it down because she had her stereo on too and wanted to hear her song
Then I turned mine up LIKE A BOSS :sin:
