Clairtone 7980

My clairtone 7980 when plugged into wall and not turned on by power switch is completely functional. Then when power button is pushed obviously remains powered but then the lights in the radio tuner are displayed.
This can't be normal, any suggestions as to if this is a big problem?

Is the deck working Possibly the deck is stuck in sleep mode on

Hey bill the top deck works and the one on bottom I think needs belts. With referring to SLEEP mode would that suggest it can be manipulated to work again or does that mean it's broke?

No the sleep mode is that when radio switch is in off position you can listen to the radio/tape while pressing play on deck, and once deck is at end of tape the deck shuts off radio automatically...but if the deck is soft mechanism and the deck never finished fully then the micro switch is still allowing power therefore the radio will not turn off until the micro switch is in off mode To remedy this you have have to manually finish turning the wheel inside deck for it to complete cycle Hope this helps
