I just wanted to make a recording. Now the record and the play buttons are stuck but the tape is not running. Pushing stop nothing happens..
Any Ideas guys?
Thx,
Lutz

I think these have soft touch decks , if that's the case the belts might have went bad causing the deck to seize up .

Thx for the hint.
Belts should be rather new...
Attached a pic with position of the buttons. play, rec, stuck , and pause seems to be engaged.

yes this deck is a bitch
I have trashed many in restoring a few
you really need one on standby to get it back together
really not user friendly

The deck needs resetting! Turn the flywheel manually and will hear a click noise when it is reset.
It is a very complicated deck. It drove me nuts working on CFS 99 decks.
Somehow I made them all work after replacing belts and turning the flywheel to reset it.

I agree, this deck is waaaaay out there.
It could have been invented in the 70's when some 60's engineer was totally blitzed on something, they presented it to their boss who was on the same stuff.
For example, they put a spring between two metal plate boards that are already attached to one another physically via the chassis. Its bonkers.

Thx mates.
I dont wanna go through that pain...
Never give up! :-D When you get some time open it up and work on it.

I have abandoned some of the boxes in my collection with deck issues for like months and years. I got lucky on a later date and fixed it. It is so rewarding when you fix it and see it all working.

It is all part of the fun of having boomboxes.

My CFS-77 did that when it was new, back in the 1980s. As a teenager, and not knowing any better, I cut a rectangular hole in the bottom and would insert a pencil to "unlock" the play button when it got stuck. I played tapes in it for years like that 🙂
