Cassette deck problems

Hello gentlemen
I have a JVC RC M90C cassette problem.
When depressing the “ eject” button, it doesn’t move more than a 1/16. I know that pressing harder is not an option! There’s a vintage Halloween spooky cassette that has been in the deck for 20 years which will not eject , possibly because it’s haunted but probably because it needs a service. The belts obviously need to be replaced, the heads cleaned along with all the pots and the SW5 button is depressed into the case, but besides that, the unit is visually pristine. I was wondering that if the capstan and/or the motor turned a few revolutions would then allow the eject button to function.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Well if the belts broke while the deck was playing or when initiating, the heads can’t retract so that’s why the door won’t eject. The deck reset procedure requires a properly functioning deck system to cycle and reset. To fix this, the boombox back cabinet will need to be removed to access the deck itself. You might then be able to manually spin the flywheel until you hear it click which should reset the deck and allow the heads to retract allowing the door to open and cassette removed. If you aren’t going to service the deck at that time, I suggest unplugging the connector and harness. Otherwise the next time the boombox is powered up, the deck will automatically attempt to cycle reset and get stuck again.
