Boxes on Ebay....

Another noob question, any tips for Ebay shopping? I've heard a lot of horror stories about poor packaging, item not as described, etc. The biggest problem I've noticed are crappy, grainy pictures and desciptions heavy on sales-pitch.... "CHECK IT OUT.....THIS OLDSKOOL BOOMER REALLY ROX!!!!", and light on item description. I've got my eyes open for a couple models, the top of my list would be a mint Lasonic TRC-975.

with what he said... ...I have bought at least a dozen boxes from members and EVERY time it was a smooth, honest, transaction. I would definitely start with the members of this site first.

Yes, check with members here first - there are always good stuff on sale. The price might be a little higher than Ebay, but more than likely you're not going to get a bunch of broken parts in a shipping box, like many of us have. So to me - it's worth it

There is no magic trick. The best of us get's burned often. You do take a risk on eBay but if you go in expecting the worse, you can frequently minimize the disappointment and find some gems.

Correct! And worst case, you end up with a bunch of parts that you can help members with.

Here's a tip that I follow myself:

If there's a zero-, or really-low-feedback bidder making a lot of bids on a box... I stay away for a couple of reasons...

1) Noob bidders will usually push the bid WAY higher than normal so if you do win, you will be overpaying.

2) It could be shill bidding.

That's a good one. There have been several boomboxes I wanted to bid on, but the seller never replied to my questions. No reply from the seller = no bid from me.

Always ask questions and try buying from the members here and if u don't find here what your looking for then try ebay but proceed with caution. For sure u will be very satisfy with a purchase from any of the members here. I know I am.

I would also state to look for sellers with 100% positive feedback and read there feedback. You then can kinda get an idea of that seller and make sure they have had many transactions. To litlle or no transactions could mean they had bad luck with other accounts
