Bought my first Boombox today

On ebay. A Panasonic RX-5085 that I feel like I got a decent deal on. It has some problems, but it should do fine for what I plan to use it for (no tapes). Here's a picture of the radio from the auction, followed by a picture of my other vintage radios (non boombox).

Welcome aboard! That RX-5085 was a workhorse for Panasonic, and apparently was a good selling boombox. It makes for a pretty good starter.

The middle one on the top row sounds very good for a 1-speaker mono.
