Boomboxes with a phono jack and no aux/Line in/out help

Hi all , I have a few boomboxes that only have phono jack and no aux or line in/out. Now my question is: Is there is a way I can use either my Ipod or CD player without using a cassette adapter? Or is there is a way to change the inputs from phono to aux?

Are you saying there is no Line In / Phono switch anywhere on the box? Usually it's located on or around the jack panel. Many boxes will say Phono for the input but they'll have that switch in which case you select Line In then press play on the cassette deck to turn on the boombox. You can insert a plug into the remote jack to turn off the cassette motor.

Many of the Sharp GF-9X9X boxes only have a phon-in. To step down that phono signal for using a stanard line-in, you need a cheap device called a phono-annenuator.

Something I really want to get for my boxes that are 'phono only'.

Reduces the line-level signal drastically down to phono level (the minute output from a turntable cartridge) and applies the RIAA equalisation curve to give the correct tonal balance.

i am just wondering if you could just desolder the wires from the riaa section and resolder them directly onto the input jacks.
wouldnt by passing the preamp for the turntable give you line level input.
just curious.

I can vouch for the MCM brand.It works perfectly for me also.It's very inexpensive too.Before getting it you might try the phono input anyway.My Lasonic 931 and 920T sound totally normal when inputting a line source into its phono jacks for some reason.In fact if I put the MCM into the signal path I can barely hear the sound.All the other boxes I have with Phono inputs sound like static or very oversaturated (attenuated highs and exaggerated bass) without the MCM in the signal path.Has anyone else noticed this with Lasonics? Its as if they forgot to put the phono preamp into the signal path despite the 'Phono" marking beside the jacks

Yup, that MCM adapter with some velcro is all you need.

Not sure why the Lasonics behave that way, Jovie... Hopefully someone will read this and verify.

Have you plugged a turntable into the Lasonic to see how that sounds?

I just got a Sharp gf-9191. Phono in only, but it does have the mic in so I use that when coming in from my computer or whatever.

guys i just received the LINE LEVEL TO PHONO INPUT ADAPTER but it only has sound thrue 1 speaker when on STEREO, but if i switch the radio to MONO both speakers work good,,,, is that normal? or is my adaptor Bad?!

try reversing the rca cables, if the sound is out on the same channel coming in than it is probably your source or the cable,
