Today, Fresh Produce (Peter) and Mac Daddy Freshness (Adrian) came over to the house for “Official Boomboxery Business”. I handed the “Traveling BoomBoxery Mix Tape 2” off to Peter for him to add to the mix.

While he was here, he challenged my GPX 990 “Louder Blaster” to a “Boombox Battle” versus his Conion C100F

Below are some pictures and a video….You can ask Peter and Adrian their thoughts on the battle

The 777 was not in the battle, but it's always good to have back up :-P

Until Peter chimes in....I can't say much...

But I will say this....The Conion C100F is a BRUTE. Look at the pictures. It dwarfs the GPX. Both have 8 inch woofers but the GPX is a 2 speaker system and the C100 is a 3 speaker system..

But considering his radio is a factory built monster and mine is a back yard tool bench blaster, I am very happy with the way the Louder Blaster performed!

Now that I have had a chance to measure it against something as radical as the C100....I think some more refining can bring out even more.

PETER, What do you think?

It would have been interesting to compare the 777 in a video that contained 3 separate sections, 1 for each box with a decibel meter positioned a set distance from each box to accurately measure sound levels etc.

You have your orders, now make it happen!!

Nice video by the way,

James.... :-)

P.S. In that last photo, why isn't that C100F up on the shoulder then? :-P

Having both C-100 and 777. The CONION by a landslide in loudness. But the Sharp has finesse so it shines in its own way. Way more options on the 777 as well. The Korean version is a 2 way speaker setup! I'd love to put it up against that one! :hmmm:

I do have a meter on my cell phone, I could try that down the line!

Be careful, Chris. You might set off the San Andreas fault doing that.

By the way, what's the name of the track?

To start off i didn't have my conion on my shoulder because of the cassette holder at the bottom   the battle was pretty epic but i would say it was a tie the conion was just a little bit louder but the louder blaster had some deep bass i think once chris get it 100% complete it will take it out :breakdance:

WHAT....that's not what you said when you were over here

I'm just kidding....Since I built (with Norms help and guidance) my own radio that stands up to a Conion C100F without fear, I am STOKED

And since I know Peter will come back again to run this test for the betterment of all BoomKind all I can say is next time, it won't even be a question :-O

WHO'S NEXT ?

Dude! In that size package, with a smaller transformer, takes less batteries, far more portable, lighter.... to give the C100 a run for it's money -- that's totally awesome!

The louder blaster CAN put out more power than the C100.. The amp has enough capability. Perhaps a little more power tweaking or input signal strength? When cranked full tiltt, the C100's that I've seen/heard has a lot of distortion.

How does distortion compare between the two, Chris?

SAME

There is no way I would come out and say my radio BEAT a C100F.....But I had to see what Peter thought first :-D :w00t: I know I gave him a run for his money....

I think they were side by side, he had a slight more bass and I had a slight more highs....but the size of the cabinets decided that long before.

I do think there is still some fine tuning left to be done....I just need to make the tuning part easier to do, make it so I can get to the knobs.

In other good news,...this was really the first time I laid into the Louder Blaster this hard and this long....I was expecting some heating issues with all the mod's.... NOTHING

The next test.....do the same thing....on BATTERIES ! ! !

If i may i think Chris' box had super kick a$$ bass but the conion was a tad bit louder i cant wait to hear Chris' louder blaster after hes's done tweaking it...
Thanks for the fun time Chris  :-D
