Damn  Sorry to see that. I made the same mistake on one of my first boxes.

Hitachi TRK-8080W. Not as bad maybe though cause it doesn't have battery cover and its in pretty worn condition, but still it sucks when you have good intentions and this crap happens. Hard to tell from the pic below, worse scratches in person....

Still be a good box to drag around and not worry about!!!!

Don`t mention superglue. I have a like new tpr990, that came with sticker. I was listening to it, while doing something with superglue. My strategy, used to be. Drop a few globules of superglue onto some old card, bend a paper-clip out straight, put the end of the clip into the glue, to get a small ammount. I did this one day, and, picked up too much super glue. I was, carefully, moving it over to where i wanted it, and, a blob fell onto the 990. Talk about heart stopping moment. It was a minute blob, but, it has left a bad mark, on an otherwise mint box. Alway`s use superglue GEL, if you have to.

:sadno: :sadno: I never buy Superglue! It is a big mess. Use 2 pack epoxy glue with longer pot life. The one I normally use got 5 minutes pot life. I've seen lots of people having problems with the superglue. Stay away from it and use 2K epoxy. The adhesion is so much better.

Keep that Sharp away for a week or so. Just leave it alone. The last time I did a stupid thing was while cleaning one of my M70 box. I dropped a small speaker mounting screw on the dust cap. ...:sadno: :sadno: :sadno: Some dust caps are delicate like the pupil of the eyes. All my fun I had on the weekend was gone. I looked like a monkey who ate ginger.

That tiny speaker screw made a 4mm nasty crater like dent on it. :-O :-O I was so sad! I then tried to use a soft rubber tube with air suction to pull it out, but unfortunately it only made things much worse and added another wrinkle. That second attempt to fix it was a desperate move after something bad happened.

Don't be in a hurry to do anything now. Hopefully one of our members can help to make a printed silver adhesive back up vinyl film and bring it back to normal. Love the rest of the box and try to forget about what happened.

On the bright side of things it is a good lesson learned. I've heard people using harsh solvent cleaners on the instrument cluster lens cover of expensive luxury cars which ruined the whole thing. One of my colleague went and had a car wash with detailing and got his odometer cover all fogged up. The clowns at turtle wax car wash sprayed some nasty stuff and melted the cover. The solvent went inside also and destroyed the back of the cover.

Royce I haven't really done a comparison. But the 575 woofers I believe are in a separate enclosure like the VZ2000 so it may sound a bit better :-). I will do a Sharp video and review when I get a chance though ;-)

Don’t rely on it. :nonono:
In most cases they will never have it.
I am not trying to be negative but in many cases unfortunately that is the truth.
Hopefully you will find a donor box. Good luck! :-)
It is so much fun when you find one.

i know  total schoolboy/inexpirienced type error, if i was at home i woukdnt of even had any of that stuff here

looking on google at "custom brushed aluminium stickers or vinyl" , i think its going to be possible to get someething made, with the technology they have these days and computers, if i can provide some decent hi res images and exact poin point mesurements, i think it will be very likley someone will be able to make some, watch this space , has no one here ever tried to get such a thing made ??

This is really sad. I'm sorry it happened to you :-/ I've had horrible things happen before like accidentally cracking tuner windows etc... Just do exactly what Litfan said, put it away until you can sleep without it crossing your mind, then do what you said, make one beautifully classy custom job. You can get typeface printed onto brushed stainless trim sticker for sure. In fact, once this is happening I might copy you with some of my more brutally beaten boxes.
I hope it works out to comfort you if not make you feel better :-)
And don't worry about it, it's just a radio and there are plenty more for plenty more money! :-D
