For people to exchange knoledge , info about the tapes,

they think sound best, or have some good specs.

Well, I got these just yesterday and by Jaetee's standards they are from the 1988-1991 era which is supposed to be the best Maxell XLII-S that ever came out!!! :w00t:

I agree with the Maxell XL-II S cassettes. I've always been a big fan of the mid- to late-'80s TDK SA-90 tapes also.

For Type IV tapes, I still love the TDK MA-X 90 with the blue shell. I'd love to get a Sony Metal Master one day though.

I find more of the Maxell XLII-S and XLS tapes than any other at the thrifts. Not enough to supply the forum unfortunately but 1 or 2 every month on average. I keep looking for treasures like Gordie finds but so far no luck.

Another agreement from me on the Maxell XL-II-s tapes.

Also, the mid-80's TDK SA/SA-X and the Sony UCX (metallic purple label) are great performers for CrO2 types.

Metal tapes of choice here are the TDK-MA-X & MA-XG.

Normal tapes I like the TDK AD-X, the Sony BHF and the Maxell-UD. :surf:

I like Sony Metal SR (black wrapper / made in Japan). I can make a CD quality copy, AND they retain their high-frequencies for a very long time. Some of mine are 20 years old!
