So apparently Santa must have thought that I had enough boomboxes already and introduced me to something that does not have a handle or run on batteries.
My room is more and more starting to look like the cockpit of some space ship
Well, here's my set-up: A pair of Grundig Audiorama 2000 and an Onkyo TX-4500 receiver. They work really well together

Love the speakers. I had a similar pair by Dynatron back in the early '80s when I was in uni and sharing a house with four other students. Our neighbours were all fairly tolerant to our constantly playing music at all hours of the day and night, but once, the guy who stayed next door chapped our door at about midnight to ask us to turn the music down. Naturally, we obliged as we didn't want to wind anyone up too severely but the same man came about a month later, during a birthday party for one of our number and this time he had a brilliant idea which was to suggest that - instead of turning the music down - we could perhaps turn the speakers away so that he didn't get so much of the noise through the stoothing wall that separated his home from ours, which had originally been part of the same, much larger house.

You should have seen his face when we showed him the spherical enclosures!

Somehow I missed the sphere, too busy staring at the out of focus grails in the background
