So I got one of these a few years back and put many hours into putting it back together (see https://boomboxery.com/forum/index.php/topic/16282-smashing-sharp-gf9000/). Despite already having one I couldn't resist a local pickup as they come up so infrequently. It was a brief listing with just one pic from a new seller but it was only a few miles away so I had nothing to lose.

The seller got it 3 years back from a mate who did house clearances and he'd used it in his workshop ever since. He said it was grubby when he got and he'd never cleaned it. Got to test it and it was all working, deck was muffled but head looked good. Better still it wasn't missing anything....these often seem to lose sliders especially the small ones at the bottom.

Yep it was grubby as hell but looked good underneath so I bought it. He chucked in a Sony Walkman too as a freebie which was nice.

Here it is in all it's grubbiness...

It was stripped down within an hour of walking in the door with it lol. All scrubbed, polished and put back together. Will post shiny pics when I get back home :-)

Well done, Northerner. Imagine having a great big dirty ol' thing like that in a workshop, taking this off his hands obviously freed up a lot a valuable space so I hope he paid you well for you efforts! :-D

What model Walkman did he bribe you with?

How do you clean speakers, just a soft brush or vacuum, or can you actually spray something on them?
Just brush off the dirt with a soft artists brush then use acrylic artists paint...works every time :-)

Looks like nicotine on that tuning knob?

Awesome score!!! I need to get one for my collection as soon as I'm within budget :-)
I do think these are particularly awesome looking...they sound good...but they look awesome, especially those VU's

Oh and I reduced the yellowing on the back...didnt completely sort it but baring in mind the zero sun I think it's definitely improved :-) IMG_2782.JPG
