Just see a bunch of 'Buy it Now' listings on ebay and seem to have a small room full of darn near mint boxes. They are outta China according to the info. Anyone know who that is and if they are on the up and up? They have a high feedback rating, but of course buying anything on Ebay is sketchy enough, buying it for big money from China just seems like potential trouble.

Figured being new, I might be the only one that doesn't know the scoop. Thanks for any info you can provide!

Don't give the feedback to much weight, there have been a lot of disappointed buyers from these chinese sellers. There have been some results all across the board and unfortunately your recourse is not very good if things go wrong. These auctions really are buyer beware and deal at your own risk kind of transactions, the temptations are there but your better off gambling with a sale from one of the members here or a sale from your own continent.

Don is right. I find it not easy to leave negative feedback. Even when I'm not very happy with a transaction, I normally leave NO feedback unless the seller did something eggregious or went out of his way to be vicious. Also, remember that this is a chinese transaction so it could take longer than usual to get your boombox and if it has issues, time to resolve. Feedback can only be left for 6 weeks, if I'm not mistaken so by the time you've resolved your case, the window of opportunity for feedback has passed. Finally, sellers have been known to offer partial refunds but ONLY if you leave positive feedback first. I sort of understand because no seller want to settle an issue and still get negative feedback. But it does not accurately represent the experience you might have when you buy.

How do you know these boomboxes are near mint? Because of the label? Most of the time when these seller's post close ups, they look in average condition to me.

My experience wasn't bad at all - I bought my GF-777 from China a few years ago, and I received it about three days later. It was in a pretty good condition cosmetically, and the only issue was with FM stereo reception (FM stereo light was off constantly) - I emailed the seller about that and got a partual refund. Likely, my local repair store was able too fix it, and it's been one of my favorite boomboxes ever since :-)

Vladi I'm always glad to hear a good transaction whether local or half way around the world and certainly happy yours was good. :yes:

Over the last several years I've heard a fairly consistent theme about these Chinese sellers, they over state the condition and or don't disclose flaws plus soot seems to be thick and common inside and out.

I've had mixed results from Chinese sellers. A couple pretty good, a couple with multiple defects. I don't think any of those sellers are intentionally trying to mess with buyers, but accuracy and thoroughness aren't their strong suits. Buying from them is pretty much a crap shoot, and recourse is difficult, if not impossible. Forget feedback. For me, a few must-have boomers make it worth it to take a big risk, but most don't. I guess my guiding philisophy is simply never to spend more money than I can afford to lose.

That's good advice for anybody who buys items they can't actually touch before handing over the money, heck for buying any old used items that probably good advice. :yes:

I bought GF-777 parts from him twice-went excellent & fast shipping to! BUT-I have never bought a boombox from him.
Good luck if you decide to buy from him!
