Ended up in a cool 'ruins bar' in Budapest last night, called Szimplo Kert. I was very drunk and have a long hangover story to account for it but this is beside the point.
The bar was peppered with cool and not cool items like old radios, TVs, lamps, toys etc. In the corner of one room atop an old TV sat a big black boombox. Size and styling akin to a Lasonic TRC-935, if that's the one with the square speaker covers. It was in really good condition, but absolutely filthy. I took a lot of "cool" drunken shots of it with my girlfriend's camera... so no pics for a while sorry... The boombox was named Aviston, but do not recall the model number sorry... the only way I remembered the name was because we very poorly scrawled the brand name on her arm and whether we got the spelling right is another story... I was so tempted to steal it and make it available to preserve it rather than see it live in that corner... but my girlfriend is always very good at talking me out of these good ideas I get when I'm drunk.
Any knowledge on it?

Sorry, just checked the photo of Susan's arm, that ought to read AVITON. Anybody heard of this brand?

I know .. and I was drunk too, so my case isn't looking good... :hmmm: but the pictures exist to prove it, as soon as I get near a computer they will be shown...

Grat story :) Budapest is so nice. Too bad the politics are so f**ked up there at the moment that more and more clubs are closing and young people leave the country.
Still the bars there are nice. You should check this place: http://www.instant.co.hu/en

I've heard of Ariston - but they make kitchen stuff - washers etc...
then again if you was that :drunk: :weed: :drunk: it may well have been a washing machine ;-)

Ha!! I was merely drunk on cider and I would NEVER mistake a boombox... to be honest I spotted it from ages away through a haze of shisha smoke and people's heads! I thought it was a 935 until I got closer... I think I might have discovered a new box or an unknown AKA at least!! But boomboxes are so magical I'm sure in some way or other you could get clothing washed ok with them :-D

From looking at collection pics I see that the TEC 878 RR is the same boombox as my AVITON but without the square grilles... It even has the same 'super woofer' stencil on the grilles. SD card is now full and taken out of camera. Not sure how many decent images are within that amount of pictures, but somewhere in that little inch-long cartridge lay pics of the Aviton.

It was a mix of the two - it definitely had the left-right controls of the one shown in the lower pic but had the square grilles of the upper shown and had the diagonal stencil inscribing 'super woofer'. It also had the "SUPER JUMBO" chrome lettering in exactly the same place. Cool! We're getting closer!

Yup, that is a TEC aka  .
It is exactly the same as the one Floyd posted but with square woofers.
I believe member Zippy (used to have?) has this one. He might chime in with some info on which brand his one is labeles as.

It is so cool - it's one of the rooms in the bar which I think was some type of warehouse once.
