Congrats. Really cool boomer. I even cant see why you need to repaint the back cover. After proper bath will be perfect. No need for repaint IMO.

Sorry but what do you mean by a proper bath? do you mean just taking the cover off and cleaning it in soapy water etc? do you think it would help get rid of the yellow tinge to it?

Also i've only had this running on D cells atm, as it has the AC cord in it but its running a US straight 2 pin plug where as we run the angled 2 pin plug so i haven't been able to test it running on 240V yet so i have to get a plug adapter so it was probably a good thing that i didn't try run it while it was on 110V so im hoping that now that its on 240V and once i get an adapter it should power up all good. either way if it doesn't it runs perfect on the D cells.
managed to dig out some cassettes and everything on the deck works perfect, play/ff/rr etc and it even records as i did a tape last night and it worked flawlessly so im pretty impressed by that. either its had belts done at some stage or it just hasn't been used much.
only thing that doesn't seem to work is the tuner bar back light, im guessing it would just have a blown globe? where abouts are the globes on these?

Cool you got it worked out. The tuner light could be blown bulb or dirty switch. You have to test for power at bulb while switch is depressed ;-)

I believe those grills signify it was make in 1984. They only made these for two years, 83-84, the 83's have the grills with larger holes and the 84's have these grills.

You know Chris I just think Lasonic went with different manufacturers so different parts were used because I had an 83 and 84 model both with different internals but same grills :hmmm:

Interesting :hmmm: Could be.....I always thought it was the year :-D

Went to go get my tan on at the beach since it was pretty warm today, beach is only about 500m or so from my house so i decided to take the Lasonic with me for abit of jamming. got alot of compliments about it, no one could believe how old it was and that everything worked so well, afew people thought it was some retro-style new radio and that you had to use an ipod with it until they realised it was playing a cassette. loved it!
