Hello everybody!

I got a question, I want to buy this Akai 365FL Mono boombox but will the Line-in/Out DIN connector work?
A lot of Akai mono boxes have this DIN connector, does any one has any experience regarding Akai boomboxes with the same DIN Line-In/OUT.
Does it work by just plugging it in? (bypassing the radio signal or do you have press record on the tape deck?)
Hopefully some of you guys can answer my question!

Thanks!

The use of the DIN differs unit to unit depending on whether they have built in stages in the circuitry.
You can always buy an external phono amp stage to use as you intend if the unit doesn't have it built in but ofcourse this is additional cost.
And again with how it is engaged whether the play needs engaging is box specific, sorry I don't know this unit, perhaps there is an operating manual somewhere?

Thanks for your reply! I couldn't find the operation manual on the internet unfortunately..
Other Akai mono boxes use the same type of connectors like the AJ-370, AJ-360 and AJ-350, maybe someone out here owns one of these boxes?
There is a service manual (schematics) available though, but I can't read electronic schematics.
I did attach the schematics for the AJ-365-FS, it's the same radio but with different band-types, maybe some on the forum knows how to make sense of it.

Almost forgot, here is my Boombox List:

Philips D8644
Philips D8514
Philips D7456 World Receiver Mono Radio with Line in (It bypasses the radio when 3,5mm jack is inserted).
Telefunken PCR 11E

I will post some photos later on!

Here is the Philips D7456, Mono World Receiver "Boombox"
It does sound pretty good, with line in!

As it is written on the DIN socket there, it is the Line In/Line Out of the unit.
But Line-In in any box without an AUX function will work only for Recording, which was the norm in 70's.
Means, you need to keep Play + Record + (Pause optional!) kept pressed.

Some later models used to have a remote socket along with MIC, which will allow you to stop the motor.
Please see this my old thread to get an idea.

DIN was present in most 70's units, and very common in European brands even later.
DIN over RCA must have been just a choice then, due to popularity based on people's existing hardware.

I have an Akai AJ-370 with similar DIN connector and I will let you know how it works.
I need to make a cable to connect from an RCA source!
