I agree, I've been thinking of painting mine too. The woofers look boring in that color (light brown). I don't know what Akai was thinking.

Akai never made it brown. I've seen it when it was brand new way back then. That was the first time I saw a white speaker in my life!

I just call any speaker that isn't pure white "light brown". It's the same thing with the Sharp GF9000, nearly every one I've seen is faded like a light brown or parchment color. I can't stand it, but I'm just picky that way.

It looks OK on a black or dark gray box, but on a silver box the speakers should be black IMO.

Phew. Thankfully it has good sound then. I hate buying things that sound like crap!

After fed ex came 3 times. I had to go pick it up. Only right side has sound. Guess it will go into the next year pile!

Check the speaker cable where it connects to the board. That's what caused the problem on mine.

Awesome! Thank you sir. The seller assured me it played fine. I told him being he did not tell me about the signature required and the driver likely pissed off haulin it back and forth likely got it damaged. Hope its an easy fix. Little ugly with marks on it. Hope its easy to pull it apart for a body job and repaint.

After you remove the rear case, there's 2 more screws inside that hold the front case to the middle chassis.
