Hello everyone,

It's been a month since I've checked back in on Boomboxery after been away for a while. A beast staring me in the face has been a RC-M90, which I was gifted by a great fella that is still active on this forum. Sadly, there is no cassette mechanism to speak of, there are no recording heads, motors or control boards. In short, I am in need of the cassette section. Given the Universe is so abundant (hah!), I thought I would ask the question if someone has such a part for the legendary RC-M90. I thought the PC-5 might have a very similar cassette mechanism, judging from the pinouts, I guess I was mistaken.

If anyone can point a finger in the right direction, I would be really grateful. Or please drop me a PM.

Thanks

Welcome back Mark, glad you still have the m90 dude, im sure the pc5 deck could be adapted for the m90, i can't see why not

the main thing that is different are the mounting posts, good luck anyway my friend

Hey Radio Raheem, thank you for the reply. It's good to hear from you. I think when you are given gifts, you should keep them :-) You know an M90 cost £495 in London's Tottenham Court Road in 1981. You could buy at least two second hand cars with that money.

I see the pinouts are a bit different. I guess my next step is to check SM for PC-5. Potentially, it could be a good transplant. I hope I've got the stomach for it (gulp!). How are you keeping, good Sir?

I'm not to bad my friend, still here, i have seen the m90 advertised for £350 in places new so i guess it depends on where you bought them from...........do you understand that service manual malarkey it's all double dutch to me lol

a good engineer should be able to make sense of it all though dude

I understand a couple of bits, but not much else lol. It's fine.

I like this machine a lot. It is a good 'un and I would enjoy hearing the cassette deck play back on it.

I'll check in more regularly, thanks RR.
