i had a wooden model making business--
used milling machines and lathes on rock maple...
the models were 99.8 % accurate so
the inventors/manufactures could show their customers a good preview
at trade shows and sales meeings
then --my dimensions etc were used to make the actual steel molds
for the production runs

even what appeared to be simple little parts --
often took an entire day --or week -
to get them right
could never charge $$ anywhere near for the real time involved-
so - it was more like a hobby than a successful business
