My dad my son and I headed down to NYC for the weekend to take in the Yankees and a trip to Coney Island! So like any good boombox hoarder I scoured the local Craigslist ads and found a potentially rare box listed. I searched the internet and couldn't come up with any info so it made me immediately want the box even more! I made an arrangement with the owner and made a 4 hour drive round trip to pick it up. Nothing very unusual yet but when I got to his house he said he had been liquidating his collection and that a guy named Miguel had beat me to the good ones! Oh well! So heres's what LLopez left behind:

Introducing the Supersonic SC-8000:

Don't know much about it but it seem's to be a cross between a Discolite and a 777? The seller said the sticker was original to the box??? Not sure about that, what I am sure of is that it does get loud and it's about 2 inches short of a 777. The speaker grills are like the Discolite and do not come off externally. The grills are convex and there are three of them, one on each of the outside speakers and one grill covers the 2 middle speakers. It needs a good cleaning and one of the knobs is not original and I'm sure I'll never find a replacement but I love the styling and look forward to adding it to the rotation. Anybody here seen one of these? :hmmm: Or if anyone has some info on this I'd love to know more about it!

Totally badass ... With such a metal-coloured tuning scale, convex grills and controls on top it sure looks unusual, I've certainly never seen anything similar. Does it have any lights though? A perfect customization for a cheap personal discolite :-D ?

Peace

I like it. It's very different. I've never seen any other one like it before. Congratulations.

That thing is strange! Looks like some of the knobs are styled after the Lasonic and maybe the tuner knob after a Bolt Box or something like that....

Can you remove one of the knobs and take a photo of it? They look very similar to the ones on the Marantz PMS 3500
