Just bought a 931. I think something was damaged in shipping because there is something rattling inside and it wont pwer up AC or with batteries. Any ideas on what it could be, or anywhere in Los Angeles that might be able to fix it?

Thanks.

1st Rule: Never ship a Lasonic
2nd Rule, see rule 1

OK, Lasonics are made of cheap, flimsy plastic, the power transformer quite often breaks loose from it's mounting while in transit, this sounds like what has happened here, it can make a terrible mess of the sensitive electronics inside, hopefully yours hasn't suffered this fate.

Chris (LASONIC TRC-920 user name) is in Ojai (North of LA I believe) may be able to help you if you ask him nicely in a PM.

Beware, Chris is certifiably insane, as well as being a very nice guy.

Good luck.

Yeah anytime you receive an electronic item with rattling noises inside... Do not try and power up :nonono: that will definitely cause more problems. Terry is also right. Transformer should be removed on any and all big black boxes because they tend to break during shipping. Hope it's not all damaged. I would send message to seller and remember always take plenty of pics for proof. Good luck ;-)

Thanks guys. In order to get a new transformer is it easiest to buy a 2nd parts box, or is there a generic aftermarket one that might work?

The power transformer will be fine, you'll just have to remount it, the associated electronics will have to be checked for damage though.

True on all accounts!

I found this place that works on radios, but I haven't used him yet....I will after Thanksgiving.
