Thats a nice 918 !That box is a work of art IMO.You have some neat boxes, though I'd doubt that large black "mono" unit gets much use :-D .

Very nice collection you're building there, Chris!

I thought the round one in front of the 777 was the one you shotgunned at first glance!

Good luck finding more brother.

Rock On.

Thanks guys, It's all a work in progress. I'm not sure whats next. I am leaving for japan next week for a few months. We'll see what I can find over there. They seem to have allot of Sharp VZ's. That would be a real dream come true as I would like to get back into records.

But when I do return I want to re-belt most of what you see there. The TRC-920 has fresh belts. I just worked on the TRC-918 and got the tape deck working but it needs new belts and I have a set of new tweeters on the way. The small Panasonic in the front needs belts and the GPX 990 still needs speakers and I want to get the tape deck working. I also want to replace the tape deck heads in the GF-777 (thanks again fatdog) when I get back as well as do belts on that.

Plus I am following a thread in the tech section of a touch screen media player going in a TV boombox. I may want to play around with that watchman.

So, with that all said. I'm not sure what is next purchase wise, but I do have allot of work to do. My goal really is to have all that I already own, fully functional. I have a MASSIVE tape collection that I love listening to, so I really want all my tape decks working. That way I can just grab a radio that fits my mood and ROCK!

I also have been collecting rechargeable D cell batteries. I now have 10 and everything you see takes D cells. I always have them charged and ready to go, so I'm off the Tit of purchasing them which makes using these radios SO MUCH BETTER.

I guess out of all of this, the hardest thing will be to find that missing speaker for that Lasonic K-398. I still have hope!

I'll be posting any new Japanese finds as soon as I find them!

Sounds cool Lasonic TRC-92. Hope you have a great trip. I'm so envious.

Be careful working on that TV. CRTs can be very dangerous.

Rechargeable Ds are awesome. I need to get more. I've spent more on D cells than I have on boomboxes.

I don't see any garbage. Nice finds through and through, even the later Sony. It's a good garage-type unit, come the very worst, but I think it's pretty aesthetically attractive for the era, and it's probably real good quality for the time, too.

Thanks man, yeah, I have to look into how to discharge that CRT. No need to get killed over it!

Yeah man, Rechargeable batteries are the way to go. I have been using these for about two years now. They are good for 1000 charges. Back in the 80's I spent more money on batteries then food, beer, weed and women combined! ut Hey, I think I made the right choice! I was on the street every day BLASTIN'

Funny you mention that little Sony. I am going to dive into that when I get home. It's kind of rough, but that makes it all the more of a challenge. One of the decks works, the tuner works, but there is no line in and the speakers do not lock on. They stay on but can slide off. So it's one of many projects I still have to get too. Maybe that will become a custom painted box or something. Who knows!

Great collection!

I've got one of those Panasonic minis... Beautiful box and good sound, but the most disappointing thing about it is there's no line-in. :-/
