I did a search when I was waiting for my 8290 to arrive, and I think a member at S2G said the highs were a lil more crisp on the 8190? But, someone was putting different resistors? on the tweeters of their 8290 to make the highs louder...

I only have the 8290E. Get the other one and we can do the comparo. Might be selling mine soon. Fully working too. Swapped the power to accept 120v.

They're obviously a different colour scheme, but I've noticed they also have different cassette keys. I'd guess they sound pretty much the same. I have an 8290E.

Not sure why they'd sound different. It would have been a waste of money for them to make any technical changes.

Hey Ira, ive just noticed theres an 8290 on ebay uk and it has a white tuner dial, this afternoon 3 x 8190 auctions appeared and they all have black tuner dials, could that be the differance?

Looks like 8190 is 2x5 watts and 8290 is 2x8 watts......?
