i got my truck off craigs list about 4 years ago and put md historic tags on , been a great truck but the guy i bought it from was pulling a flatbed trailer that weighed more than the truck , i actually saw the guy driving the truck pulling the trailer and the bumper of the truck and the tongue of the trailer were about to touch the ground lol. the guy i bought it from was cool because he kept his promise to sell it only to me , he had to register the new truck he bought before he would sell it to me , he got a big yellow former county road department truck and it was ****ing huge and damn near new looking . i learned when you buy a car flash cash because you can get it lower than the asking price by a fair bit.

Hi Floyd, that's cool.Sounds like you got a good deal there.

I only paid 1.250 for mine but it's needed a lot of work.
New clutch then I had to have the steering column rebuilt as it like fell apart.😮
So when that was done I had to have the drivers side fuel pump replaced. This sat for 2-3 years and now I got it where it's running really good but the stupid people that rebuilt the steering column didn't get the clutch safety switch back in right or adjusted right.

I went out this morning and let it warm up and I now have my idle adjusted at the right idle so it now goes into gear nicely.
But now I can't get it to start anymore! I had to push really hard down on the clutch all the way to the floor before and now it won't!😁😓
Floyd,is there anyway I can just disconnect that so I can get it to start so I can bring it in?
Also is it really hard to get at? I'm not happy as it's insanely hot right now and I just wanted to bring it into town and gas it up and pressure wash it.
I'd appreciate any help on this.
Thanks,
Jeff.😀

Spent some time on the truck this morning.
I found that I don't have a clutch position sensor and it has been bypassed and found out that there is a small short or partially plugged in wire in the tilt steering column. If I tilt the tilt wheel down it starts! I had the steering column rebuilt last year so I'm not happy with the people that did this as it was doing this the day I picked it up!!
I should have told them but they told me to just push down hard on the clutch-Bullshit!😁

But on a good note I fixed the temp gauge, there was a plug on the back that was broken and I got it connected and it's all good now.
I also got the high beam indicator light to work.
I drove it 45 mikes and put 1/2 can of sea foam and a 2/3 tank of gas.Washed it to!
I picked up s new oxygen sensor and am putting that in tomorrow.
Then I a couple of weeks I'm going to out a new thermostat in.
Just really trying to ge this going good!!😀😎

Damn Floyd I hear you! If you weren't so far away I would.
It really felt good to drive it today, tomorrow night I'm going to put that O2 sensor in and I can leave it alone for a while.
After the thermostat I'll have to get this steering column short addressed.
What sucks is I can't trust this shop anymore, they're downright pricks that take forever!
I'll find someone.
The rear brakes aren't leaking much at all today and worked well-still needing the rear wheel cylinders.
I'll get this all done by fall then the front shocks and take a month off!!
Oh yes the old trucks, they will be so nice when done!!!
Good luck buddy!
Maybe we should exchange phone #'s?!
Talk to you soon!😀😎

Dang. Heater cores suck suck suck on most vehicles. Not so much hard, just time consuming with the amount of part removal for access.

yep and the tend to leak at the worst possible time. the no heat part sucks the most , mine is completely plugged up , i tried flushing it out but its too plugged up. luckily this one should be fairly easy i hope . some s10's you have to remove the dash board to get the heater core out . no more ****ing s10's for me , i owned 3 so far and it was ****ing horrible every damned week that pos was acting up. i only buy full size trucks because they are made to work.
